Our Modifications

Back

Welcome to our problem tracker page. I created this page for two reasons; First, it will allow me to keep track of any and all problems we encounter with our kiwi. Second, it provides a complete list of problems and solutions that may be of some help to those suffering from the same issues. Who knows this list may also help those of you that are researching Kiwi's or hybrids in general. Enjoy!

Problems & Solutions

#1: 4/19/03 - One of our drawers would not stay in the closed position during travel. It was mounted a little crooked so the catch was not working. - - - FIXED: 4/19/03 - I had to remove and re-install the drawer and hardware and we have had no problems since.

#2: 5/06/03 - The drawer glide on the drawer under the refridgerator became loose and fell off making the drawer un-useable. - - - FIXED: 5/06/03 - I took the drawer out, re-aligned and re-attatched the drawer glide, and put it back in.

#3: 6/09/03 - The kitchen sink had developed a leak around the drain. The drain pipes were barely hand tightened. I tightened everything up but the water is leaking through a bad seal between the sink and the drain. - - - FIXED: 11/14/03 - Dealer repaired under warrenty.

#4: 9/14/03 - There is a sharp corner on the rear bunkend panel. It is starting to tear the canvas. I put a piece of tape on the backside of the canvas and for the rest of the season I stuffed a cloth over the sharp edge to stop it from doing anymore damage. - - - FIXED: 11/14/03 - Dealer repaired under warrenty. They ground down the sharp corner and sent the canvas back to Jayco to be repaired.

#5: 10/24/03 - Our toilet seat has always been a little wobbly or loose fitting. I finally took the time to check it out and I noticed the toilet seat hinge was cracked. The cap on the sewer drain outside was also cracked. - - - FIXED: 11/14/03 - Dealer repaired under warrenty. New toilet seat, cover, and sewer cap.

#6: 10/18/04 - We received a recall notice on our microwave. Looks like they have added our model to the recall. After talking to Samsung customer service I decided to remove the microwave and take it to a loval service center instead of taking the whole trailer to Haus of Trailers (our dealer). Removing the unit required taking out four screws in the cabineet face and then unplugging it. The plug however is located behind the drawers and you actuall have to go through the cabinet under the sink to get to it. (major PIA) - - - FIXED: 11/02/04 - I dropped the microwave off at ESL, Inc. in Hazel Park on Saturday, October 30th. It was fixed under warrenty and put back into the Kiwi on Tuesday, November 2nd.

#7: 10/23/05 - During our last trip of the year my daughter Lauren broke a cabinet door. She was standing on the sofa and lost her balance. Unfortunately her first instinct was to reach for the handle of the cabinet over the sofa. As she fell she took the cabinet door with her. It cracked at the style leaving part of the door on the wall and the other half in her hand. =( - - - FIXED: 4/01/06 - Luckily the door was repairable and a friend of mine who used to be a cabinet maker fixed the door for free and I reinstalled the door.
