In case anyone is interested in The Battle of Lake Erie Bicentennial Celebration in late August through September 10, 2013. will bring together hundreds of thousands of people from the U.S., Canada and abroad. Best to make reservations to any of the Parks along the Western Lake Eie shore as soon as possable. because those sites will be going fast.

The two-week Celebration will include a large fleet of Tall Ships in an historic reenactment of the Battle of Lake Erie, a grand Parade of Sail and Port Festivals in waterfront cities in the U.S. and Canada. Visitors will be able to tour the Ships, enlist as Crew Members in the reenactment, or be part of the Bicentennial Fleet or Militia. (Click the Get on Board tab above for details.)

2013 Events

Aug. 29 - 30:Parade of Sail around the Western Basin with 15 to 18 Tall Ships; the Tall Ships will then be located in the proposed following ports for the Bicentennial Celebration: Amherstburg, Kingsville, Leamington, Monroe, Toledo, Port Clinton, Catawba Island
Club, Pelee Island, Put-in-Bay, Kelleys Island, Huron/Sandusky.

Sept. 1:
Parade of Boaters in conjunction with the Navy & Coast Guard

Sept. 2 -Labor Day:
Battle of Lake Erie Re-creation ~ Put-in-Bay, OH
Sept. 7-10:
U.S. Navy returns to the Great Lakes and Put-in-Bay (Proposed).
Sept. 10:

USS Niagara returns. Bicentennial ceremonies including statewide bell ringing,
sunset salute and wreath laying ~ Put-in-Bay, OH

Along with Tall Ships activities, surrounding days will include a series of exciting events to commemorate the Bicentennial, including:

  • Fireworks
  • Concerts
  • Parade of Boaters
  • International Freedom Celebration
  • Food,
  • Entertainment,
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Solemn ceremonies to honor the fallen
  • Historical Activities
Official invitees will include representatives from the U.S., British and Canadian governments as well as Native American Indian groups. It will be an epic Celebration for Ohio, the Great Lakes region and our nation.
