We also gave up a foot of length, but were fortunate enough to pick up a well cared for roll up awning for pop ups. Love not having poles on the campsite in front of the camper.

Luv it! I've been wanting one of those since I bought my camper!

Been a while since my last mod... Had a headrest DVD player and decided to take it out of the headrest and mount it into the exterior bathroom wall. Made a DVD with pics and will use it as a flush mount picture frame.... Pics added to my webshots album "New Camper Mods"

Replaced our canvas via Popup Parts and very pleased with the ease and improved fit and function. Working very well. Also had to replace the gas valve on the water heater. The new valve was Robert Shaw and was larger than the previous White Rodgers unit. But installation was not a problem and now the pilot stays lit the whole trip. Our old unit got to where it put out the pilot whenever the tank got hot. It was not a thermocouple issue so the valve needed replacement. A few mods to the exhaust shield and it fit just fine. Way better than replacing the tank. The valve cost about $75.

Added a bracket to the frame to support the sway bar at the campground (instead of taking it all the way off)

Dave, I'd like to see a picture of your sway bar bracket. This sway bar is new to me.

For some reason I can't post pictures here, heck I don't even have emoticons anymore!
Click the link in my sig line and then go to the '08 Bayside folder and you'll see the pics. I was taking the sway bar off every time we unhooked, which got to be a pita becuase it isn't light and where oh where do you put it? (trunk, back of the truck, what about the cotter pins etc) So stealing an idea from Everybody Hauls on PUX I 'reformed' and old drapery rod holder and screwed it to the frame of the camper. Now we only have to unhook from the truck and swing the sway bar 180* and it sits on it's own bracket out of the way. (Trust me, you do NOT want to back up with the sway bar in place)
I spent more time sanding and repainting the bracket than I did measuring drilling and mounting. (that does not include the 'where did I put that now?' time and the searching for a new bit because I just broke one time. It really is a lifestyle, sigh)

They are why I sleep in the altogether . . . ;-0

If you look at the ends of the bed rails on Coleman/Fleetwood pups you see grey plastic 1/2 moon looking things. These act as guides for the bed rails to match the rails on the inside walls of the camper (follow?) The later year Fleetwood/Coleman designs have a tendency to break at the mounting point then everything tends to bind when pushing in the bunks. Bed Wedgies are an aluminum replacement for the OEM piece, which are getting hard to find. The cost is roughly the same for metal or plastic, and the one of OEMs I replaced last year has broken already. So metal for me! The filing and painting is a result of posts about metal shaving being found in the bed rails after the new Wedgies are installed. So I was proative and did some 'custom sizing' before installation. I painted them just to make 'em pretty, cuz I didn't like the bare metal look.
