Favorite fall destination for apples, pumpkins...

14 posts in this topic

Where's your favorite fall destination for picking apples and pumpkins[p], hey rides, apple cider, donuts?

Mine used to be Apple Charlies in New Boston, MI. It's been getting pretty run down the last couple years with no signs of improvement :). Last year we went to Erie Apple Orchard in Erie, MI www.erieorchards.com It was pretty nice, hey rides, petting farm, little store with goodies.

So where's your fav?

Toolman, there is the Pumpkin Patch on Sibley Rd there which is nice for pumpkins, cornstalks and there an animal petting farm. But for Apples there is also Erie Orchard down in Erie Mi....www.erieorchards.com try there, they even have events on the weekend, check out their website for that info...

Last year we hitup Blakes Orchard & Cider Mill in Armada MI (Macomb Twp I believe).

We got a ton of apples, some raspberries and they had fresh donuts & cider and all sorts of other goodies.

We love Spicers Apple Orchard just north of M59 at the Clyde road exit off of US23. I think it is in Hartland. They have hayrides, the BEST donuts, a corn maze etc. We planned to go this weekend but maybe not because of rain. Last year we waited too long and all the apples were picked, but we still had fun with the corn maze, donuts, pumpkin patch and all of that.

I like Blakes also. Closer to home we go up to Yates Cider Mill on 23 mile and Dequirdre. It is just the bees that get to me!

Would that be Wiard's Orchard? This place is owned by my sons girlfriends family. We went last year. Nice place.

I quit going to Apple Charlies a couple of years ago. NOT impressed.

I usually just go to Plymouth Orchards or the Northville Cider Mill...it's just close and what I'm familiar with. I thought Wiards was pricey but it's a very nice place and fun for kids. I might even head there today since Gus is enjoying life at Maumee Bay SP.

I was just talking to a bunch of people at Sarah's school yesterday and they highly recommend Uncle John's in St. John MI, just outside of Lansing. www.ujcidermill.com

Here are a couple of links with the lists of apple orchards:

If you haven't heard the news reports - you might want to get your pumpkins early this year due to a bad crop. They said there's a shortage.
