Sadly, November isn't all that far away So, I thought I'd start this thread and see if we can't figure out some details in the next few weeks.

I'd like to suggest the weekend of November 5-7 as a date.......what do you all think?

As far as location, Jason (ochoada) had mentioned a campground near the Brown County area (if I remember right) and I remember looking at the website, but I must've deleted it by mistake (Sorry Jason). Maybe you could post it in this thread for everyone to look at.

Over Labor Day weekend, we camped at Mounds State Park for the first time.....loved it! Beautiful park....well-kept, clean, and lots to do. I'd be willing to go back there as well.

So if you're interested in a November outing, please chime in! Any & all suggestions for locations are welcome, and if you have details, websites, etc, post those too.

Here's a short list of amenities we'd like it to have:

-Campfires permitted
-Copious amounts of firewood available locally
-Water feature would be nice... Pool, pond, lake, whatever... Not picky
-Trees... The more the better!
-Family-friendly, but not so friendly that we get yelled at for laughing around a campfire in the wee hours of the morning... We're not rowdy, but we like to laugh.
-Electricity preferred, water preferred but not necessary. No full hook-ups needed.

We've got three, possibly four campers coming, so it would be nice to be able to be side-by-side... Again, I know it could be tough this time of year... Any ideas?

Indiana Dunes is booked... Already checked...

Charlestown State Park is located in southern Indiana with easy access from I-65, 8 miles to the east on state road 62. With scenic vistas of the Fourteenmile Creek valley and elevation changes of over 200 feet, Charlestown has much to offer the visitor with this diversity. While hiking the rugged terrain you will see Devonian fossil outcrops and areas of karst sinkhole topography. Bird watchers will enjoy the 72 species of birds, including bluebirds, black vultures and an occasional Bald Eagle.

Candlelight Tour of the Pioneer Village on Sat, Sept 18.

Spring Mill abounds in endless opportunities for recreation! The restored pioneer village is a delight as you travel through time to the early 1800s. The Grissom Memorial honors Hoosier astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom, one of the seven Mercury astronauts and America's second man in space. The Memorial tells the story of Gus Grissom's life and contributions to the space program. Exhibits include Grissom's space suit, one of the space capsules he flew in and many artifacts from his youth and adulthood. Twin Caves is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 11 years of age. Tours run on the half-hour; no advance registrations are accepted (sign up on day of tour only). No children under 3 years of age are allowed on the tour.
